The main challenge we’d like to solve using creatives is to create a strong brand, digital presence and communications plan to effectively market the HackerHub by UrbanEd Academy, a capital project that converts an existing liquor store into a technology-based learning center for youth in the Bayview neighborhood of San Francisco.
Since 2010, the Urban Ed Academy has been addressing long-standing economic and social disparity issues by serving youth of color (specifically boys) in 3rd through 5th grade in Southeastern San Francisco. By cultivating a core partnership with San Francisco Unified School District, Urban Ed Academy has successfully worked to increase over 500 students’ educational attainment through academic enrichment, family support, and system/community advocacy strategies. Recently, Urban Ed Academy was awarded a Google Impact Award to help build a better Bay Area and specifically to support an exciting new project to develop a “HackerHub”.
The HackerHub will serve as a technology training hub for youth in Bayview Hunters Point and create a template for a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) ecosystem that encourages STEM education and careers in coding at an early age.
